Faults:I found it incredibly heavy at the handlebars and not what I would have imagined considering it s racing heritage. Brake master cylinder needed to be reduced from 15mm to 13mm which improved braking remarkably. The original master cylinder was re-installed when sold to Mike Pavie UK
History:Born in 1977 as a 750S America at Meccanica Verghera with the last known engine 2210395 sold to a collector in Japan. About 2000 Mr. S. Chaulk of Virginia USA asked his boyhood friend noted American MV builder/tuner Albert Bold to locate a 750S America for him. Mr. Bold located and imported this America from Japan. With a full MV service it was lightly ridden until 2004 when it was back to Albert Bold for engine upgrades. Mr. Bold having raced MV s and won American series championships with his 912cc MV racer installed his race proven 912cc engine kit that includes larger modern valves flowed head and a Bold custom made billet alloy cylinders topped off with 30mm Dellorto carburetors. The result is an excellent more powerful reliable engine with about 100 hp giving very pleasing performance characteristics. In January 2005 I purchased the America from Mr. Chaulke and refurbished the front suspension with new fork tubes and internals. The electrics were completely gone over also. I have ridden on the country roads in Maryland & Virginia. I also rode it in DOCC club track events where I enjoyed it immensely. Sold to collectible dealer Michael Kiernan St. Louis shipped immediately to Australia to collector in 2013 where it lived for 2 yrs. Shipped back to USA and sold via Las Vegas Auction to Mike Pavie in the UK.
